Science is everywhere and affects everyone.
March for Science Sacramento marches in solidarity with the global March for Science movement, and with the Fridays for Future / Climate Strike movements.

In 2017, more than a million people worldwide participated in support of science and evidence-based policy.

Please join us! Ours goals include advocating for open, inclusive, and accessible science, affirming scientific research as an essential part of a working democracy, and supporting scientists and science education.

Recent policy changes have called science-based information
into question. Science is not a partisan issue. Science is fact-based and provides objective results. It is time for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted!

We come from all walks of life. We are of different races, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, political perspectives, and nationalities - and we are united through our respect for science and our belief that it is crucial to the health and success of our society and our planet. Our diverse opinions, perspectives, and ideas are critical to the scientific process and are our greatest strength.

ON APRIL 22, 2020, WE WALK OUT OF THE LAB AND INTO THE STREETS.

Science is often an arduous process, but it is also thrilling. A universal human curiosity and dogged persistence is the greatest hope for the future. This movement started with, but does not end with a march. It is imperative that we continue to celebrate and defend science at all levels - from local schools to federal agencies - throughout the world and to call on our leaders to enact evidence-based policy to benefit all of our communities.

Science protects the health of our communities, the safety of our families, the education of our children, the foundation of our economy and jobs, and the future we all want to live in and preserve for coming generations.

We speak up now because all of these values are currently at risk.
When science is threatened, so is the society that scientists uphold and protect.

WHY SACRAMENTO WILL STRIKE

Our past, present, and future have been undeniably shaped by scientific discovery and progress. Sacramento, as the capital of California, must play a significant role in participating in the March for Science.  Sacramento joins the effort, as a satellite march, to support the National March in Washington, D.C.

"The science is clear. The danger is real."
— Gov. Jerry Brown

STAND UP FOR SCIENCE.
